The Way it Started

Emmanuel Tabernacle Christian Church was formed on October 27, 1997 by Dwight C. Graves who was inspired by God to restore the lost, destitute, broken and rejected.

In a vision of the “walking dead,” the Pastor tried to restore people by putting together those who were literally falling apart in the vision (arms and other body parts falling off).  God spoke to him in the dream and stated that these people must be restored from the inside out.

All doors opened for the ministry have been opened by God.  The church moved from Mother Turner’s house on Avery Street, Marietta, Georgia (five to six members attending Bible Study) to the Holiday Inn on Delk Road, Marietta, Georgia (baptizing five people), to a room in the back of Larry’s (Ryder rental on South Marietta Parkway) and a Bible Study on Roosevelt Circle, Marietta, Georgia, to a much better and larger location on Sandy Plains Road, Marietta, Georgia.  On January 1, 2011, we moved to our current location at 1588 Willie Drive, Marietta, Georgia.

The Lord has continued to grow our ministry. Since moving to our current location, our membership has increased. We have baptized and also accepted families and members into the Emmanuel family based on Christian Experience. Praise God for continuing to give the increase.

On Sunday, May 28, 2006 we ordained three ministers, Rev. Cheryl Graves, Rev. Irvin Walker and Rev. Mary Walker who served as Associate Ministers at Emmanuel.  These ministers were charged with expanding Emmanuel’s Outreach Program.  We have an active Bible Study, a vibrant Women’s ministry,  an active Sunday school ministry and Youth ministry.  We hold a  monthly Youth Summit.  We also have a strong prayer ministry and solid prayer warriors.  In addition, we have a prison ministry.  Our choir sings praises to the Lord, Most High.

This is a millennium ministry, which restores those who are normally considered to be spiritually dead.  Satan and hell will have no victory on this side of glory, as we will continue to fulfill the great commission locally, nationally and internationally.  We celebrate our Church anniversary annually on the second Sunday in June each year and our Pastor’s anniversary on the second Sunday of October each year.  We are excited about the things that God is doing for Emmanuel Tabernacle Christian Church as we enter into our Sixteenth year of service to the Lord.

“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it".  Matthew 16:18
